Finding Thankfulness in Scripture This Holiday Season

Thanksgiving signals the start of the holiday season. Despite our initial intentions to stay thankful, the stress of the holidays can quickly lead to frustration, causing us to lose sight of their true meaning.

Beyond being a season for gathering with loved ones, the holidays and liturgical seasons provide a chance to draw our hearts nearer to Christ. Advent, in particular, symbolizes a period of preparation and anticipation. As we prepare for the holidays, let's dedicate moments to reading over scriptures that highlight our most significant gift—the love of God. It's an opportunity to deepen our connection with the spiritual side of the season, adding more meaning to our celebrations.

Here are 10 bible verses to reflect on this holiday season.

Psalm 107:1 “Give thanks to the LORD for he is good, his mercy endures forever!

Philippians 4:6 “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.”

Psalm 1:3 I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous deeds. I will delight and rejoice in you; I will sing hymns to your name, Most High.

Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.”

Ephesians 5:20 "Giving thanks always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father."

Psalms 103:1-2 "Bless the LORD, my soul; all my being, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, my soul; and do not forget all his gifts."

Psalm 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield, in whom my heart trusts. I am helped, so my heart rejoices; with my song I praise him.”

Lamentations 3:25 “The LORD is good to those who trust in him, to the one that seeks him.”

Isaiah 12:5 "Sing praise to the LORD for he has done glorious things; let this be known throughout all the earth."

Chronicles 16:23-25 "Sing to the LORD, all the earth, announce his salvation, day after day. Tell his glory among the nations; among all peoples, his wondrous deeds. For great is the LORD and highly to be praised; to be feared above all gods."
