Did you know? May is Military Appreciation Month, a time to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our military personnel. This is the perfect time to spotlight the support systems in place for veterans transitioning to civilian life. The Catholic Ministries Appeal is proud to support Catholic Charities' program Project Independence.
Project Veterans' Independence is a program dedicated to helping homeless veterans find stable housing and regain independence. By providing access to permanent housing and support networks, the program aims to assist veterans in rebuilding their lives. Beyond housing, it offers services such as healthcare, employment training, and counseling to address the multifaceted challenges faced by homeless veterans. Through this initiative, Catholic Charities is committed to honoring the service of veterans by ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive in civilian life. According to Catholic Charities Long Island, there are more than 140,000 veterans living on Long Island. Unfortunately, some are homeless and suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), other mental illnesses, or even physical disabilities.
Your donation to the Catholic Ministries Appeal plays a crucial role in supporting this program. Your contribution enables Catholic Charities to expand the reach of this vital program, ensuring that more veterans receive the assistance they deserve in transitioning to civilian life.
