“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, - Romans 12:2
Parish Social Ministry is a partnership between Catholic Charities and the local community. Catholic Charities provides support and resources to local parish social ministry efforts by developing and expanding social justice efforts through faith-filled events, such as the Parish Social Ministry Coordinators Retreat.
It is crucial that all Catholics, especially those involved in ministry to be renewed in their faith. A renewal, such as a retreat, revives the spirit and provides a deeper meaning to service. Retreatants also get the opportunity to meet other ministers to share ideas and expand their capacity to serve God’s people who are in most need.
“After having to cancel in 2020 and 2021, we were finally able to gather coordinators from Nassau and Suffolk, who have been working extra hard on the front lines for the last 2 years feeding, clothing, assisting and supporting the poor and vulnerable in their communities,” shared Paula Malloy, Catholic Charities Director of Parish Social Ministry.
“We had our own CARES Coordinator, Linda Reich, present to them thought provoking insights and emotional and spiritual support. Attendees received a packet of activities to do themselves and to share with their staff and volunteers. There was time for peaceful prayer and meditation as well as time for some fun and games. All left feeling filled and refreshed. Ready to serve the community!”
