Responsibilities:

St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church in Port Jefferson Station is currently looking for a part-time Youth and Music Minister. This position is 15 hours/week and reports to the Pastor. We are looking for someone to rebuild our high school youth ministry and lead the music for our Saturday 5:00pm Mass. The objective is to make this particular Mass the focal point around which other activities and programs to engage parish teens can be established.

Duties:
– Plan, implement and develop a high school youth ministry program, preferably using the
LifeTeen model and resources
– Rehearse and lead liturgical music (organ/piano/guitar and cantor) at Saturday 5:00PM Mass
that blends traditional hymns and contemporary songs
– Develop a group of other sings/musicians, especially teens, to assist with music on Saturdays
– Engage with Religious Education staff to attract middle school-aged kids to join youth ministry
once in high school
– Collaborate with and report to Pastor on engaging youth in the life of the parish at large
Position Requirements:
– A pride in and knowledge of Catholic teaching, especially in doctrine, liturgy and morality
– An appropriate degree preferably in theology, spirituality or ministry preferred
– Proficiency in voice and accompaniment (organ/piano/guitar) and experience leading music at Catholic Masses
– Experience selecting appropriate hymns, songs and Mass settings for liturgies
– Experience with young people in a parish or educational setting
– Ability to develop a team of volunteer adult leaders to assist in youth ministry activities

Part-Time Liturgical Musician

St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Hicksville is seeking a Part-Time Liturgical Musician. This position is 10-15 hours a week including Saturdays and Sundays and reports to the Pastor. Additional days may be required based on the needs of the Parish. Additional hours are required for weddings and funerals.

Duties:
